We were approached by a client who wished to increase business turnover through an increase in traffic for their website for a Personal Training Gym in Barbican, London.
Our initial assessment revealed a number of areas where the existing website, based on Wordpress, was deficient in terms of user experience and search engine optimization - often these go hand in hand.
We suggested a complete makeover of the website, moving away from wordpress which has some drawbacks if the site were to generate high traffic numbers, but the owner was not keen to do this on the basis of costs. It was decided to maintain the current framework but make adjustments to improve UX and google juice.
Step 1 was to look at the loading times of the sites pages, a complete uncached load of the index page was taking up to 21 seconds on our fibre optic broadband, mainly due to superfluous plugins and huge image files.
Removing all unnecessary packages and trimming all image files on the site got our inital page load under 2 seconds.
All images also were correctly named and tagged.
Content was adjusted to be relevant, and regular advisory articles were pulished.
Social media output was integrated as part of the overall strategy.
Et voila..!
